What is Pawometer, and what is it not?
Pawometer is an educational website that converts a dog's or cat's age into human years using published veterinary guidelines and generates printable certificates. It is not a veterinary service. Nothing on the site is a diagnosis, treatment recommendation or advice about your individual animal, and using the site does not create a veterinarian-client relationship.
Content on the site is reviewed by a licensed veterinarian for general accuracy, as described on the veterinary review page. That review does not extend to your pet. Always consult your own veterinarian about health, nutrition, vaccination or behavior decisions, and seek emergency care when needed rather than relying on any information here.
Is the information guaranteed to be accurate?
No. The site and its calculators are provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation. Age conversions are estimates based on averages, and individual animals vary with breed, genetics, diet and health.
We work to keep formulas aligned with the sources cited on each page and to correct errors promptly when they are reported to [email protected], but we cannot promise that every figure is correct at every moment or that the site will always be available.
How may I use the certificates?
You may create, download, print and share Pawometer certificates for personal, non-commercial purposes, including gifts, social media posts and memorials, as many times as you like. You may not sell certificates, remove the Pawometer credit, or use the templates as part of a paid product or service without written permission.
Shelters, rescues and veterinary clinics may print certificates for their adopters and clients free of charge as long as the Pawometer credit remains. If you would like to offer branded or bulk certificates, email us; we are usually happy to help.
May I embed the Pawometer widget on my site?
Yes. The embeddable calculator widget may be placed on any website, including clinic, shelter, breeder and blog sites, free of charge, provided the Powered by Pawometer link remains visible and unaltered. You may not modify the widget's code, hide the link, or present the calculator as your own product.
We may update the widget at any time to fix bugs or improve accuracy, and we may withdraw it from a site that alters it or removes the credit. Embedding the widget does not transfer any rights in Pawometer's name, logo or code.
Who owns the content on Pawometer?
The text, design, certificate templates, code and the Pawometer name and logo belong to the Pawometer team and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may quote short excerpts with a link to the source page. Cited veterinary guidelines and studies remain the property of their respective publishers.
You may not copy whole pages, scrape the site or reproduce the certificate templates for redistribution. Requests for other uses can be sent to [email protected].
What is Pawometer's liability?
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pawometer and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, its calculators, certificates or widget, including any decision made about an animal's care. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid, which is zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Which law applies, and can these terms change?
These terms are governed by the laws of [State], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of that state. We may update these terms at any time by posting the new version here with a new date; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected]. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.
